Thanks for letting us know about this, Andy. Will be interesting to see how things unfold.

When I go as a youth leader to high school sporting events and sit down during the National Anthem I typically receive many disgusted looks. It amazes me the blind devotion that is found in placing ones hand over ones heart and singing to a piece of fabric versus the myriad excuses I hear from people as to why they cannot come and worship and stand for the Lord of creation who has truly set them free.

Some of the activities noted at Goshen are required by law. Here in California the school must fly a US flag and annually have an event concerning the Constitution -- or federally-backed loans for students would not be available. (Some of us proposed the flag be 'flown' annually in a locked lobby on July 4, but we lost out to an administrative decision.) I've never noticed any singing at our intramural games -- we might get complaints if we did. It is more difficult for non-Mennonite institutions to avoid accommodation if the Mennonites no longer lead us.
