We enter into the presence of God and praises of God are sung (vs.1-4). This makes us realize how much we fall short of the mark and confess our sin (vs.5). We are given absolution (vs.6-7). We hear the word of God (vs.8). We respond to the word (vs.8). We are sent out to do God's bidding (vs.9-13). Note too the challenge of the mission given - we don't get to this in the parameters set by the lectionary. It's no wonder Jesus must assure Peter to not be afraid when he responds to Jesus' presence like Isaiah! I'm struck...I think this is a great point Jake. I'm struck by how much more clearly I feel the joy of joining this worship when we sing these words at my church rather than just drone them.
