Where do we see ourselves as a congregation? On the pallet waiting for whatever happens to come to us? Hearing a call but reluctant to leave the comfy, if unfulfilling, MO that we have known? Ready to do whatever it takes to join with God and others? In our flooded area, it might look like putting on boots to go muck homes of our neighbors. Ask people to raise hands to indicate which of the three modes they think the congregation is in.Wayfaring Strangerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03289741443490936595noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1464309008858992954.post-52158856823994240602010-05-08T10:49:07.837-07:002010-05-08T10:49:07.837-07:00Umm...the man never said "yes" to Jesus....Umm...the man never said "yes" to Jesus. The man actually kind-of whined. But Jesus healed him anyway. Jesus forced him to walk but we really don't know if he became whole.<br /> I am preaching this too. I'm more struck with the "immediate" part.SDSRnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1464309008858992954.post-80715653071992817902010-05-07T10:07:08.251-07:002010-05-07T10:07:08.251-07:00I love the bit about being "response-able&quo...I love the bit about being "response-able"! I'm preaching this text ...Wow - great insight. I'm preaching this text on Sunday, even though I had rather not. There are many in our congregation who have physical and/or emotional illnesses, including myself having a very bad back. I just keep coming back to the sentence, "Do you want to be made well?" From where I'm standing, it feels as if I have something to say about it? What do you think?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
